Our Regulatory Compliance practice is one of the fastest-growing groups in the firm. You will advise California employers, large self-insured organizations, and multi-national corporations operating in the state on the ever-evolving landscape of workers' compensation, employment law, Cal/OSHA, and occupational safety regulations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented attorney who thrives at the intersection of law, policy, and business strategy.
California is the most complex regulatory environment in the country. You'll be at the forefront of policy shifts, working directly with senior partners and clients who shape industry standards. The work is intellectually rigorous, the clients are sophisticated, and the career trajectory is exceptional.
- Advise employers on California workers' compensation regulatory compliance
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments affecting client obligations
- Draft compliance policies, internal procedures, and risk management frameworks
- Support clients during audits, agency investigations, and regulatory proceedings
- Collaborate with litigation teams on compliance-related disputes
- Prepare client alerts, memoranda, and training materials
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active California Bar license (or eligibility for admission)
- 3–5 years of experience in regulatory, compliance, or employment law
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical capabilities
- Ability to synthesize complex regulatory information into actionable guidance
- Experience with Cal/OSHA, DIR, or DWC regulatory bodies
- Prior government or agency experience
- Understanding of self-insurance or captive insurance structures
